Are You Prepared for That Important Job Interview?

So, you want to find a good job, right? Well, your first big hurdle will be the job interview. Are you ready for any question a prospective employer might throw at you? To help you prepare, here are some interview questions used by some of the most prestigious companies in the world. Challenge yourself by going through the questions one by one. Imagine that you seriously want a position with that particular company. Verbalize your answers to make it feel more realistic and to build your confidence. Here goes:

IBM

1. Describe your greatest achievement in the past 4-5 years.

2. What are your short- and long-term career goals? What do you think is the ideal job for you?

3. Why do you want to join IBM?

4. What do you think you can contribute to IBM?

Hong Kong Bank

1. What types of activities have contributed the most to your personal development?

2. Describe the role that others have played in your professional development. Did you encounter any significant difficulties along the way? How did you deal with them?

3. Please describe your prior work experience and how you benefitted from it.

4. How much is your present monthly salary, including allowances?

5. Will you be required to compensate your employer if you resign from your current position? If so, please give details.

6. Other than academic success, what has been your greatest achievement to date?

7. What do you consider to be your most valuable personal strength? Why is it so valuable to you?

8. Please state why you think that the position you are applying for is a good match for your abilities.

9. Why do you want to work for Hong Kong Bank, and what are your long-term career objectives?

Proctor & Gamble

1. Describe an instance where you set your sights on a highly demanding goal and then saw it through to completion.

2. Summarize a situation where you took the initiative in organizing others to complete an important task. Did your team achieve the results you wanted?

3. Describe a situation where you had to seek out relevant information, define key issues, and decide on which steps to take to achieve the desired results.

4. Describe an instance where you made effective use of facts to secure the agreement of others.

5. Give an example of how you worked effectively with people to accomplish an important result.

6. Describe a creative or innovative idea that you originated which made a significant contribution to the success of an activity or project.

7. Provide an example of how you assessed a situation and achieved good results by focusing on the most important priorities.

8. Provide an example of how you acquired a technical skill and then applied this skill to solve a practical problem.
