Do you love the TV series, The Big Bang Theory? Do you love science and technology? Well, welcome to NIT, where local legend Shen Zehan, from the School of Information Science and Engineering, was recently interviewed by CCTV 13.

One of Shen’s roommates introduced him to the NIT Post reporter: “With his huge interest in invention and his immense perseverance, he has performed experiments and conducted research on more than 30 inventions. Most of his inventions have been awarded patents, for example, an automatic toilet, a non-electric humidifier, a folding LED and a laser keyboard.”

A bit shy, Shen Zehan agreed to speak with the reporter: “I am an ordinary student, but one who is curious. In this era, we are experiencing an information explosion where technology is developing at light speed. What we need are good ideas and brave hearts to innovate and invent in this fast-paced environment.”

“He is meticulous but easygoing in his daily life,” one of his close friends added. “He likes to play the piano.” Shen commented, “Piano-playing is my favorite pastime. It is a necessity in my life. Whenever I am puzzled during the process of invention, I play the piano; it always brings me inspiration and hope, and I love it. Life is full of uncertainty. We never know what will happen in the future, but we must try our best to explore and experience life with a never-ending curiosity.”
