The School of Media and Law signed a cooperation agreement with Ningbo Music Port on September 11th, according to which the two sides would carry out intensive cooperation in the construction of teaching bases. The signing ceremony witnessed attendance of officials from both sides, including WANG Junwei, Deputy Dean of the School, Professor HE Zhenbiao from the Department of Journalism, HU Xiaomei, Deputy Director of the Department of Journalism and Communication, FANG Bin, General Manager of Ningbo Music Port Cultural Development Co., Ltd. and MOU Yingwu, Director of China New Country Music Development Center.

According to the agreement, the School of Media and Law and Music Port would jointly build teaching bases through which non-profitable seminars/speeches and training would be offered to the public so as to popularize the basic knowledge of digital music production and arouse students’ enthusiasm and unleash their potential in digital music production and dissemination. The two sides would also further explore a new mode of joint cultivation of innovative and application-oriented talents, and conduct more extensive cooperation in personnel training, internship and employment, scientific research services, etc., in a bid to pool talents for the development of the digital music industry.

Ningbo Music Port, a wholly state-owned company founded in May 2016, is an important part of the City of Music development plan, one of the four roles envisioned of this city (the other three being the Capital of East Asian Culture, the City of Motion Pictures and the City of Books). The company is currently building a music ecosystem that integrates music creation, music performing arts, product trading, music copyright, digital music and international exchanges.

The School of Media and Law, through this cooperation, would be more deeply integrated with the cultural industry in Ningbo, and would further leverage its professional edges to explore new cooperation channels so as to boost the local cultural development.
