Professor XIAO Wen, Dean of the Business School, and six experts from Institute of European Studies and National Institute for Global Strategy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences had in-depth and extensive discussions over issues concerning Europe and international relations in the new era during a symposium.

The attendees shared the latest efforts made by staff members from Institute of European Studies to help the Chinese think tank have a bigger say in the international arena and exchanged views on issues like the latest geopolitical changes in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), the evolution of Europe’s China policies and reasons behind, and cooperation between China and Europe in tackling the climate change. Topics such as “16+1” cooperation mechanism and CEE’s China policies were also items on the agenda. Professor XIAO concluded the symposium by saying that domestic experts should delve deeper into issues concerning Europe as China-Europe relations would face changes in the future. She also hoped that local scholars could have discussions with prestigious research institutes like Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on a more regular basis so as to help local governments make well-informed decisions.
