Historical Background for Wang Yang-ming’s Philosophy of Mind, translated by the School of International Studies of NingboTech and Ningbo Base for Creative Transformation and Dissemination of WANG Yangming’s Thoughts, was officially published by Springer, an internationally renowned academic publishing house.

The original Chinese version Legend of WANG Yangming, edited and polished by Professor DONG Ping of the School of Humanities of Zhejiang University on the basis of his lectures on “Lecture Room”, a program on China's official television station, gives an account of the legendary life of WANG Yangming, a renowned Chinese philosopher during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The English version was finished by the team led by Professor WANG Xiaolu and Professor CAI Liang of the School of International Studies of NingboTech after two years of hard work. The book, divided into six chapters and with 180,000 words, categorizes historical figures, mountains and rivers, allusions and Confucian terms into glossaries in the hope of helping western readers better understand WANG’s life and the development of his academic thoughts. Introducing WANG’s “unity of knowing and acting” and “Philosophy of Mind” and showcasing his “bright personality, magnanimous mind, pursuit of truth and life freedom”, the translation is conducive to the dissemination of WANG Yangming’s thoughts overseas.
