President YANG Deren inspected the School of International Studies on April 6.

Dean HU Jie reported on the School's recent work on the structural reform, discipline development, faculty and student training as well as curriculum reform, and anatomized the problems and challenges. Deputy Dean CAI Liang and REN Kai, deputy secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the School, briefed President YANG on the work they are in charge of.

President YANG recognized the School's impressive achievements made in recent years as it's striving to reform and improve the discipline planning, education and teaching, faculty and student training as well as characteristic platforms, and gave the following instructions: first, to accommodate the development needs of the university while staying in step with its growth, fully leverage the School's discipline advantages and facilitate local development at the same time; second, to be forward-looking, strive to set up postgraduate programs while keeping improving disciplines and majors, and become increasingly competitive across the board; third, to ride the wave of the development of Ningbo Port, fully leverage the School's linguistic advantages and facilitate the city's economic development; fourth, to step up student training by making use of expertise and offering voluntary services involving foreign languages; fifth, to create a brand name by revving up publicity and passing down good experience and practices.
