The launching ceremony for the strategic cooperation in promoting the use of e-CNY in universities was jointly held by NingboTech and Ningbo branch of the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) on May 10. HU Zhengyu, secretary of the Communist Party Committee of NingboTech, and YAN Xiuwen, secretary of the Communist Party Committee of ABC Ningbo branch, addressed the ceremony. Also present at the event were LIU Ding, Party member of Ningbo Financial Regulatory Bureau, FENG Jianbo, deputy secretary of the Communist Party Committee of NingboTech, SUN Guofeng and ZHANG Jian, vice presidents of ABC Ningbo branch.

NingboTech is the first university in the province to forge comprehensive strategic cooperation on e-CNY use with the banking system. According to the cooperation agreement, the two sides, with a focus on building a smart campus, will widen the applicability of e-CNY in the next ten years as they are striving to explore a new way of cooperation between a state-owned commercial bank and a institution of higher learning. The offline event was also broadcast online.

In his address, HU Zhengyu expressed gratitude to ABC Ningbo branch for its long-term support for the development of the university, and thought highly of the strategy developed and achievements made during the 20-year-long cooperation. He said that as both sides are striving for the perfect integration of culture and finance, the comprehensive strategic cooperation project is not only an important way to keep up with the trend of the times and respond to the national strategy, but also an effective measure to deepen the cooperation between banks and universities. It is hoped that e-CNY will facilitate the construction of a smart campus and bring more benefits to the public.

YAN Xiuwen pointed out that the comprehensive strategic cooperation on e-CNY, an important supplement to the overall cooperation between the two sides, proves to be an effective measure to actively implement the national strategy and the decision of the municipal Party committee and municipal government, and is in the interests of all teachers and students of NingboTech. Taking into consideration characteristics of the university and building on previous achievements, the two sides will make joint efforts to widen the applicability of the electronic currency.
