On December 25, 2015, Silk Road Research Institution of NIT held the conference themed “Ningbos Strategic Choices and Routes in the Contexts of The Belt and Road Initiative”. Professor Yang Jiangang, Vice President of NIT and Director of Silk Road Research Institution, Professor Fan Lishu, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Trade and Executive Director of Silk Road Research Institution, Researcher Zhang Handong, Director of Zhejiang Academy of Commerce and Professor Dong Xuebing, Executive Deputy Director of Western Development Research Institute of Zhejiang University attended the conference.
Their discussion surrounded two research reports, “Research on marine and rail transport strategies in the Contexts of The Belt and Road Initiative” and “Research on Making Ningbo a Pivot City in the Cooperation with Central and East European Countries”. The experts gave their opinions. They suggested that Ningbo should restructure and upgrade its economy and shipping logistics industry through the combination of sea transportation and rail transportation and that Ningbo should establish wider international cooperation via Shanghai and other neighbouring cities.
