On March 12, 2015, Dr. Piotr Blumczyski, administrator of translation studies at Queen's University in Belfast,Ireland was invited NIT to present a lecture to junior students of the School of Foreign Language Studies. The lecture, which was hosted by associate professor Zhang Zhengmei, was entitled “Painting, dressing, planting and cooking ‒ images of translation across the centuries”. To begin his presentation, Dr. Blumczyski posed a series of questions which invited students to think about the nature of translation, for example, how to understand the relationships between the original work and the translation and between the author and translator. Dr. Blumczyski then reviewed some of the classic answers to these questions. His humorous style and interesting body language served to effectively convey his knowledge of the subject and to hold students attention.
