On May 31th,Yangwei Lin, a senior computer major won the Outstanding Award in JAVA software development (Group B, Undergraduates) at 6th National Software and Information Technology Contest. This contest was held in Beijing, lasting for 7 months. It is the 3rd time that NIT won such a great honor since 2012.

Under the guidance of Department of College Student Affairs, Ministry of Education, the contest was co-hosted by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Personnel Exchange Center and Center of Information Consultation and Guidance for Students. It includes individual contest and team contest. The individual contest includes JAVA software development and C/C++ programming. There are three groups respectively, Group A, Undergraduates, Group B, Undergraduates, and Group Vocational and Specialized College.
More than 30 thousand students and 500 software entrepreneurial teams from 31 provinces and autonomous regions took part in the contest this year. From May 28th to 29th, 20 entrepreneurial teams attended the national finals at the IBM headquarters of China. Between May 29th and 30th, more than 3200 contestants took part in the national finals at Peking University, University of Science and Technology Beijing and Beijing Polytechnic University respectively.
