On December 23, 2014, the School of Foreign Language Studies hosted a simulated foreign trade fair in the North Building of the NIT campus. The event was given the international-sounding name of ;Philadelphia World Expo.

The idea behind this simulation was to provide students with a realistic environment in which they could experience the activities and dynamics of a real-world trade fair and put their theoretical knowledge of business and trade into practice. The venue also required students to put their English-language conversation and negotiation skills to the test. The ;Philadelphia World Expo simulation was therefore both practical and comprehensive.

The vendors at the Expo were selling various commodities such as gloves, scarves, and attractive room decorations. Some were homemade; others were purchased wholesale from outside suppliers. The buyers mulled about the room, inquiring about products and negotiating good prices for their purchases. Both vendors and buyers were quite enthusiastic and at times even passionate about getting the best deals.

The ;Philadelphia World Expo was most definitely an inspiring gathering of future expert traders!
