The Chinese finals of the 2014 East China BP Debate Open were recently held at Fuzhou University. The NIT debate team of Lu Haochen and Xu Dingli won second runner-up. Debaters Chen Yu and Xu Dingli won first and second place, respectively, in the ranking of ;Top Ten Speakers.

The 2014 East China BP Debate Open, which was hosted by CDEN and organized by Fuzhou University, attracted 20 teams and nearly 130 participants from a number of major universities including Zhejiang University and Xiamen University.

To participate in this competition, the NIT debate team selected Chen Wencui, Lu Haochen, Xu Dingli, Huang Huim, and Chen Yu. The total scores of teammates Huang Hui and Chen Yu ranked fifth, missing the final round by only one place. The team of Lu Haochen and Xu Dingli overcame all difficulties along the way to win first place in the group match and third place in the final round.

Since its establishment in 2006, and under the guidance of school leaders and League Committee, the NIT debate team has devoted itself to training, organizing activities, and to keeping the traditions of debate alive and well on our campus. Owing to their consistent efforts, the team has won numerous international and regional debating honors.
