The national finals of the 10th ;De Yi Shuang Xin Chinese Talent Show were held on February 5th. The comprehensive five-month artistic competition had begun in December of 2013. Lin Tong, a Logistics Management major in class 101 at NIT, competed on her musical instrument-of-choice – the zither.

The competition was strenuous. Lin Tongs first achievement along the way was to win a gold prize in the local Ningbo category. Then, in the national finals, Lin won the silver award in the category, ;Youth Group A - zither. Her winning performance was of traditional dance music of the Li people in China. Awards were given based on excellence in performing skills as well as on the musicians moral integrity.

The ;De Yi Shuang Xin talent show is organized for young people by the Chinese Artists Association, the People's Republic of China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Ministry of Culture, and the China Council for the Promotion of Education. It promotes learning and performance of music, dance, theater, opera, film and television arts, calligraphy, and other visual art forms, with the goal of helping Chinese youth cultivate artistic expression and positive social values. The motto of the talent is “morality in the arts is primary, but artistic mastery is fundamental”.
