On the afternoon of March 3rd, 2014, a launch ceremony for the “Volunteer for Chinese Dream” recruitment program was held in Zhongshang Hall at Ningbo Xiaoshi Middle School. The purpose of this ceremony was to encourage primary and middle-school students to participate in a series of ;learn-about-Lei Feng activities. Attendees included Xu Wenjin, Vice-Director of the Ningbo Education Bureau, representatives of student volunteers, and other prominent guests. The Green Wind Environment Association of NIT was recently invited to report on their participation in this event.

The theme of the launch ceremony was “Volunteer for the Chinese Dream; Be a Civilized Pioneer”. The ceremony began with a recitation of poetry by young volunteers. Mr. Yang delivered the opening speech. Miss Xu then commented on the importance of following the example of Lei Feng and of spreading his spirit, of taking part in volunteer work, and of encouraging young volunteers to “share their love and to serve our society”. Special guest, Xu Zheyu, leader of the Green Wind Environment Association, gave a keynote speech entitled, “Volunteer Star”. Xu spoke about the various kinds of environmental public service activities, the importance of public relations, and about professional management methods. He also shared some of his experiences at the recent innovation awards ceremony hosted by the Environment-Friendly Youth Ambassadors. In conclusion, Xu encouraged students to devote themselves to public service activities and volunteer work, and to invest their energy toward the betterment of Chinese society.

The presentations at the launch ceremony were enthusiastically received by the young volunteers, who were keenly attracted to the noble goals and inspiring leadership of the Green Wind organization.
