At 8:30 AM on November 23rd, a job fair for graduating students got underway at NITs North Building. When the doors opened, a large number of students flooded into the room, smiling and with copies of their personal résumés in hand. A number of booths had been set up by recruiters from various companies to answer questions from job-seekers about available positions. Most students appeared to be quite confident in speaking with the recruiters, as well as generally optimistic about their prospects of finding their ;dream job.

The NIT job fair was held to give students an opportunity to explore employment opportunities before they graduate and enter todays very competitive job market. One student observed, “We just want to give it a try. Even if we are not offered a position with one of these companies, we can still gain valuable experience.” Another job-seeker commented, “No matter how competitive the job market becomes, we should strive to find a job that is really suitable for us rather than blindly accept whatever comes along.” One of the recruiters at the job fair remarked, “We prefer to hire candidates who are down-to-earth and able to overcome challenges. Another key factor is a candidates level of maturity and willingness to accept responsibility.”

A teacher of marketing at NIT who attended the job fair told the NIT Post, “It is not difficult to find a job these days, but it is difficult to find one that is really satisfying. University graduates tend to be very cautious when it comes to a jobs salary, social status, and benefits. Academic achievements, excellent social skills, and a positive attitude are the most important qualities of the successful job-seeker. It is also quite true that opportunity favors those who are best prepared.”
