On January 6th, Liu Weiqi, President of Chung Hua University, accompanied by a delegation of four, visited the NIT campus. NIT President, Jin Weiliang, met with the delegation and at the conclusion of their meeting signed an agreement on inter-college cooperation.

Chung Hua University is a private university, and was established in Taiwan in 1990. It is currently ranked 898th among world universities. Chung Huas academic emphasis is on the fields of science and technology. At its campus in Hsinchu City, Taipei, the school provides a modern and enjoyable environment for both teachers and students.

Commenting on the agreement, President Jin stated that it is part of NITs long-term strategy of development and reform, and will lay the foundation for deeper communication and cooperation in the future. He added, “The philosophy behind NITs work on such cooperative agreements is based upon the motto “Education is to promote the values of students”.” In order to provide more opportunities for students to develop their abilities, NIT will encourage more and more teachers and students to go abroad for training and study in the future. President Liu expressed his admiration: “NIT has made great progress over the last 10 years, and I believe that our two universities can continue to expand the scope of our cooperation.” One of the visitors from Taiwan remarked, “I really like NIT. Also, I very much appreciate having this chance to visit a university on the mainland to learn more about the similarities and differences in our systems of education.”

A student from NITs School of Information Science and Engineering said, “I am interested in this inter-college dialogue, and I think this kind of activity is not only beneficial to the school, but also to its students. It provides us with more opportunities to broaden our horizons.” An NIT student majoring in Media and Design added, “I think this agreement is of great importance to our institute. I hope that I might one day have the chance to study in Taiwan, and I think that many other students would also like to take advantage of this new possibility for further study.”
