On December 2nd, NITs Red Ribbon Association, sponsored by the School of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering, held an activity aimed at disseminating knowledge about Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, commonly known as AIDS. Several doctors from the Ningbo Shounan Hospital participated enthusiastically in the campus event.

The awareness-raising activity was divided into two sessions – a blood-type test and a quiz contest with prizes. In the quiz session, students were asked a series of questions about how the HIV virus is transmitted, how HIV infections are diagnosed, and so on. The medical staff also answered students questions and provided detailed information about AIDS prevention.

Each year, the Red Ribbon Association holds similar activities to increase students knowledge about AIDS, raise awareness regarding self-protection, and to dissipate unnecessary fear of the disease. The Association also strives to eliminate discrimination against AIDS patients and to provide them with assistance and care.
