Recently, NITs School of Continuing Education and the Cixi Economy and Information Bureau held a series of educational courses with the aim of promoting key information technologies as well as the infrastructure and industrial planning necessary to develop Cixi into a ;smart city in which all of its citizens benefit from a wide range of technological conveniences.

Experts from various fields shared their ideas and insights with 85 trainees as to how best to publicize and implement the ;smart city plan for Cixi. During the closing ceremony, participants agreed that the plan would support the citys institutions and enterprises, and also improve the quality of life of individuals in the community. In addition, they believed that their efforts could lead to a practical blueprint for the future development of other ;smart cities in China.
