On November 7th through 10th, the Eighth International Seminar on University Evaluation and Quantitative Scientific Evaluation (ISUEQSE) was held at the Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University. The international eventwas hosted by the professional board of scientometrics and infometrics of the Chinese Association of Science and S&T Policy. The seminar was sponsored by the Ningbo Institute of Technology and the National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,with assistance from theElsevier. Foundation and Thomson Reuters.

The main topics that were discussed during the 3-day gathering included“International Studies on Scientometrics”, “Scientometrics in China”, and “University Evaluation and Quantitative Scientific Evaluation”.

Attending the conference was Professor Ronald Rousseau from Belgium, Chairman of the International Association of Scientometrics, as well as metrology experts from China, UK, Holland and many other countries. More than 30 experts and scholars delivered speeches during the seminar. Theattendees also used the occasion to praise Prof.Rousseau for his great contributions to the development of science inChina.
