The Ningbo Bureau of Education recently announced its list of the fourth group of key disciplines for colleges and universities. We are proud to note that five of these key academic programs are already in place at NIT – microbial and biochemical pharmacology, mechatronic engineering, structural engineering, regional economics, and journalism.

Over the past few years, the NIT leadership has consistently shown initiative in implementing new key disciplines, applying the necessary resources, and developing academic curricula and teaching staff. The fact that these five disciplines were among the eight key disciplines on the Bureau of Education list shows that NIT has become a leading institution for discipline construction by proactively meeting the rapidly growing needs of Ningbo city.

To continue its program of academic excellence, NIT will continue to devote resources to the construction of new key disciplines in accordance with the Ningbo Bureau of Educations requirements. This will require continued efforts to refine the overall orientation toward key disciplines, organize discipline-related teams, structure discipline-specific platforms, and cultivate landmark achievements in these key fields. NITs policies of discipline construction will also play a leading role in driving talent cultivation and expanding the comprehensiveness of scientific research in support of a vibrant and prosperous Ningbo society and economy.
