On the morning of June 1st, the 2013 Graduates Internship Job Fair was held at NIT in the NC lobby. Around 440 enterprises from the greater Ningbo area gathered to seek potential candidates for future positions. They were offering over 5000 available jobs in various trades and professions such as business administration and management, human resources management, e-commerce and architecture.

Wen, from the School of Foreign Language Studies, said, “It was very considerate of NIT to organize this job fair, which enables us to explore the feasibility of internships without leaving campus. It is so convenient and time-saving. What is more, the employers we met on campus were more reliable than those we might otherwise encounter.” Wens companion added, “I was so lucky today! Just a few minutes ago, I got an internship at a trading company. I will cherish this opportunity to combine my academic knowledge with practice in the real world.”

Interviewers from the various enterprises enthusiastically and carefully explained their requirements to the students. Several of them told the NIT Post reporter that they tend to attach the greatest importance to a students basic skills and abilities, rather than demanding a great deal of professional knowledge. The director of the Cambridge English Training Center commented, “We tend to concentrate on a candidates ability to communicate and on how they conduct themselves in the workplace. Even though some college students do not have a clear plan for their careers, we still gladly offer these internships in order to help them decide what field they are really interested in.”

Recruitment activities such as the Job Fair are considered part of the exchange platform between graduates and local employers, which offers mutual benefits for both students and enterprises. Huang Guangjie, NIT Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, summarized as follows: “This recruitment activity has achieved its purpose. On the one hand, enterprises were able to find enthusiastic and talented employees and on the other hand, students were given convenient access to a variety of enterprises and real-world job experience”.
