Victoria University Leaders Visit NIT

On March 13, 2013, Duncan Bentley, Executive Vice President of Victoria University, and three other leaders from Victoria University, led a delegation to NIT. Yang Jiangang, Vice President of NIT, hosted a reception for the visiting delegates in the VIP room. The group discussed a number of issues, including programs to promote academic interaction between students, and the fostering of interdepartmental cooperation in conducting research using shared campus IT resources.

 

Pro-vice-chancellor Steve Berridge, who is in charge of International Affairs for Victoria University, Zhang Yanchu, Chief Director of the Application Informatics Research Center, and Yue Tao, an official from the International Ministry, accompanied Mr. Bentleys delegation. Also attending the reception were Zhang Zhonggen, Dean of the Victoria University School of Management, Zhang Haolan, Associate Professor of Management and alumni of Victoria University, and other key staff members.

During the talks, both parties reached a consensus on various proposals for academic exchange, and expressed their intent to begin targeted professional cooperation as soon as possible. Following the reception, the delegation visited the NIT School of Management to further discuss the proposals and to work out a detailed plan of action.

Victoria University, founded in 1916, is located in Melbourne, the capital city of Australia. Established as a public university by the Victoria Parliament, it is jointly funded by the federal government of Australia and the government of Victoria State. It now has nine schools, including a business school, a school of education, and a school of law. More than 48,000 students, including 3,000 international students, are currently enrolled on the Victoria University campus.
