Taiwan National University Honorary Professor Wang Zejian Lectures at NIT

On the afternoon of April 11, 2013, Wang Zejian, Honorary Professor of National Taiwan University and Guest Professor of the Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University, gave an academic lecture for teachers and students of the NIT Department of Law at the Kim Jong Law Center. The lecture was entitled, “Research on the teaching foundations of the right to claims in civil law.” Li Wei, Vice-chairman of the Department of Law, presided over the lecture.

 

Professor Wang stated that to improve teaching methods is a key driver of progress in the field of law. He discussed the relationship between the study of legal cases and legal education, and emphasized the importance of the case-study method in the cultivation of legal thinking. Quoting examples taken from German law, Wang outlined the roles of legal function in case studies and the importance of precedents established by previous court judgments.

 

Speaking from the vantage of his long professional experience and many academic achievements, Professor Wang explained how law is taught in the colleges and universities of Taiwan. Preciseness, logic, and the practical value of jurisprudence in life and commerce were identified as underlying principles of good law.

 

To conclude his guest lecture, Wang interacted in depth with those in attendance. He expressed his admiration for the many achievements of NIT over the past decade, as well as his wish to strengthen cooperation and communication between Taiwan and the Mainland in order to benefit teachers and students from both sides.
