Good news has just arrived that teams of engineering students from NIT have won first, second and third place in the 14th Zhongtian Cup Structural Design Competition for College Students.

The annual competition aims to cultivate team spirit, enrich research and academic environment, enhance students ability to innovate and develop practical applications, and to promote further studies in structural design and construction engineering.

The Zhongtian Cup competition was sponsored by the Teaching and Research Office of Zhejiang University. It was organized by the NIT School of Architecture and Civil Engineering with the support of the Scientific and Technological Innovation Guidance Center and the Student Union. The competition also received substantial support from Zhongtian Construction Group Co., Ltd.

The theme of this years competition was ;Billboard Structure Design and Model Making. The teams designs were judged on the basis of introduction, theoretical schema, model-making, system structure and load testing.

Members of the participating teams were selected based on rigorous standards. The NIT team of Zhu Zhenan, Li Miao and Jin Shuying, won the first prize. This honor also won them the privilege to represent NIT at the province-level 12th Design Competition for College Students to be held in May 2013.
