The 15th National English Contest for College Students (NECCS) was held in May. The annual NECCS event is authorized by the Ministry of Education and is organized by the Steering Committee and Research Organization of Higher School Foreign Language Teaching. Seven hundred and sixteen students from NIT participated in this years contest.

After keen competition in the preliminary rounds of tests in English writing and speaking, four students from the School of Foreign Language Studies won the opportunity to take part in the final round, which was held under the auspices of NIT at the Zhejiang University of Technology. Four NIT students won the National First Prize, eleven won Second Prizes, and twenty-two received Third Prize awards. The student contestants from NIT successfully clearly demonstrated their comprehensive talents in English language skills. In recognition of its active participation in the contest, NIT also won the "Outstanding Organization of Zhejiang Division" award.

As a result of NITs success at the NECCS, students passion for learning English has been stimulated. This will, in turn, contribute to the enhancement of students capabilities for autonomic learning as well as further the development of high-quality English study programs and environments at NIT.
