Recently, the Ningbo Education Bureau released its Professional Project List for Key Construction Professions in Ningbo Colleges and Universities. As part of this disclosure, NIT has added five key construction professions to its curriculum -- one Ningbo brand profession and four Ningbo characteristic professions.
At NIT, the new Ningbo brand profession is the biological engineering major in the School of Biology and Chemical Engineering. The four new characteristic professions are the civil engineering major in the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the journalism major in the School of Media and Design, the automation major in the School of Information Science and Engineering, and the pharmaceutical engineering major in the School of Biology and Chemical Engineering.
Thus far, 62 professions have been designated as key disciplines of universities in Ningbo including 17 brand professions and 45 characteristic professions. Development of these programs will begin in 2012 and last for four years. The development of characteristic professions aims to provide academic support for Ningbo-area industries and economic development trends through the acquisition of laboratory equipment, training of teachers, creation of new course curricula, and implementation of new teaching methods and management. The propose of brand professions is to improve professional services and equipment in key industries, and to promote academic advances that will enable Ningbo universities both to enhance their reputation as first-class institutions and to gain recognition from the community.
