On November 23rd, the 2012 NIT Undergraduate Education Conference was held at the Jin Zongcheng Law Center. Presiding over the event was Deputy Secretary Chen Xiaolan.
NIT Vice-President Yang Jiangang gave a report on talent development, the core theme of this years conference, which focused on new developments in teaching and learning methodologies.Yang Xianglong, from the Academic Secretariat, presented a draft of the proposed training program for the guidance of NIT undergraduate education in 2013-2016. The next presenter was Bao Wei, from the Talent Training Quality Monitoring Center, who reported on measures now being drafted to evaluate and monitor the development of academic talent, and to identify and correct teaching inconsistencies.
To conclude the conference, NIT President Jin Weiliang emphasized that we should strive to constantly improve the quality of education in ways that will enable students to assume future positions of social responsibility. To accomplish this goal, he recommended that talent education workshops be held at NIT once each year.
President Jin further stressed the importance of cultivating practical skills through consolidation of monitored, high-quality talent training programs that support the social and academic development of both teachers and students.
