RMIT Professor Appointed as Part-time NIT Professor

On December 28, 2012, Professor Li Chunqing, Dean of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT University), visited NIT. During his visit, Professor Li was appointed to the position of part-time professor at NIT. The appointment ceremony, which was held in room SA301, was chaired by Professor Xie Xinyu. Teachers and students of the Civil Engineering Department attended the ceremony.
Professor Xie introduced NIT's current program to develop its civil engineering curriculum, and warmly welcomed the visiting Professor Li. Xie commented that Professor Li's appointment will play an important role in promoting the teaching of civil engineering at NIT. In turn, Professor Li spoke briefly about the history of RMIT University, and expressed his high hopes for expanded cooperation between our two institutions.
Following the appointment ceremony, Professor Li delivered an academic lecture entitled "Reliability Theory Related to Time”. He explained how reliability theory can be applied to predict and extend the life of structures. The lecture was enthusiastically received.
After the lecture, Professor Jin Weiliang met with Professor Li in the VIP room, where they discussed terms of cooperation and matters relating to civil engineering curriculum and student development. Also participating in this optimistic discussion were Professor Xie and several representatives from related departments.
