The Ningbo municipal government has issued commendations to the advance units and individuals who participated in voluntary blood donations from 2007 to 2011. In recognition of its efforts in this regard, NIT has been honored with the Voluntary Blood Donation Advancement Award.
Through active promotion by the Red Cross chapter at NIT, and with the joint efforts of the Student Affairs Department and the Logistics Department, as well as the participation of many teachers and students, NITs voluntary blood donation project continues to be a great success. Every year, a ;voluntary blood donation vehicle comes to the NIT campus to collect blood on the scene.
NIT leaders have actively engaged in publicizing and preparing for on-campus blood drives. The Red Cross chapter at NIT also presents lectures to raise student awareness about the need for blood donations, and the Student Affairs Department advertises the drives.
Since 2007, the ;voluntary blood donation vehicle has come to NIT more than 10 times and has collected approximately one million milliliters of blood plasma. In 2012, two blood drives were organized; more than 1,000 people applied for the program, and 636 people donated almost 16,000 milliliters of blood.
Donating blood is a selfless way to help save lives, and NITs success in its on-campus blood drives is a testimony to the caring and socially responsible nature of our teachers and students.
