NIT Japanese Majors Win First Prize in 8th Chinese-Japanese Composition Contest

On October 22nd, the Communication Research Institute of Japan released the names of the winners of the 8th Chinese-Japanese Composition Contest. Wang Wei, a Japanese major in Class 101 in NITs School of Foreign Languages won the first prize. Of the six first prizes awarded in China, Wang was the only first-prize winner in Zhejiang Province. Wang Chenwei, a Japanese major from Class 091, and Guo Sijie from Class 101 won third prizes. In addition, NITs Japanese guidance teachers won the coveted Gardener Award.
The contest has been held annually since 2005, and the event has gained the support of the Japan-China Friendship Association. Tournament contestants hail from 157 Chinese colleges and universities and from 24 provinces. In total, 2648 composition drafts were submitted in this years contest. Ultimately, six students were awarded first prizes, 15 won second prizes, and 40 won third prizes.
In November, the new Japanese ambassador will select one of the six first-prize compositions as the winner of the prestigious “Japanese Ambassador Award.” All of the winning works from this years contest will be published as a collection by the Japan Overseas Newspaper Bureau.
