“A la de guo ning.” When asked about the nationality, Peter, a student at Ningbo University from Germany answered in a funny way. Actually, it is an interview between students of NIT and expatriates in Ningbo, one part of the project: A Narration by Voice—Ningbos Image in the Eyes of Expats.
After three years' hard work, the book: A Narration by Voice, was completed through the joint efforts of Professor Cai Liang, Deputy Director of the "Ningbo International Cultural Research Center ", as well as many other teachers and students. It includes twenty-three interviews with expatriates from countries all over the world. Expatriates air their voice to offer us their understandings of Ningbo, and students air their voice to reflect on expatriates suggestions in order to better the image of Ningbo.
On November 17th, the book release for A Narration by Voice: My Ningbo Dream was successfully held in the administrative building, NIT. Deputy Director of Ningbo Municipal Publicity Department Li Zhengping, President of NIT Jin Weiliang, Vice Secretary of Party Wei Ming and Head of Publicity Department Chen Bin were all invited.
After a brief introduction of this four-year programme, Prof. Cai warmly extended his thanks to the supportive school leaders and expressed his hopes for further projects for the newly established "Ningbo International Cultural Research Center ",
President Jin noted in his speech that the activity was an innovative and pioneering undertaking through which both teachers and students from School of Foreign Language Studies could fully exploit their major advantages in the service of internationalization of Ningbo's construction. From the beginning of this project, it has gained attention and support from both the school and municipal leaders. He also conveyed his sincere wishes that the School of Foreign Language Studies could continue to show NIT as a leading role of in the development of Ningbo and enlarge its social influence.
At the closing copies of the newly released book were presented to Li Zhengping and Chen Bin as gifts by student representatives.
