On April 27th, the opening ceremony of the 10th science and technology festival was held at the Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University. The festival was designed to encourage students to focus on the cultivating and upgrading of ability, to carry forward the spirit of hard-work, and to further inspire students' innovation, entrepreneurship and practical ability.
The activities included in this festival were: the selection of Academic Stars, the 10th "Qiushi (meaning "seeking truth from facts") Cup" Debate, the Tryouts of National College Students' English Debate, the Application and Design Contest of Photoshop, the Host Competition of "Golden Microphone", the Bernard Shaw Week of the School of Foreign Language and Studies, the 3rd Structure Design Competition, the 4th Energy Conservation and Innovation Contest, so on and so forth.
One of these activities was a thematic debate about merits and demerits of the innovative undertaking of undergraduates. Such tit-for-tat “war of words” not only manifests the wisdom and charm of the two teams but also strengthens the theme and significant meanings of this debate. Both sides set out considerable evidence in order to state and prove their points of view. During this fierce debate, both the participants and the audience benefited greatly , fully aware of the bitterness and sweetness of innovative undertaking. A student present said excitedly, "The science and technology festival, especially the debate, is a wonderful chance for us to get more information about self-employment. I believe that the innovative undertaking of business is a good path to broaden our minds and to make our dreams come true."
"The theme of innovation and entrepreneurship should be highly emphasized. I hope the festival continues to improve in order to further enrich the students' campus life." said Lin Bofeng, the Secretary of the Communist Youth League. Deputy Party Secretary Chen Xiaolan also made an important speech, in which she particularly stressed that NIT should always insist on the significance and achievements of academics, science and technology.
This Academics and Science Festival not only provides a stage to show students' academic and technological abilities, but also serves as a platform of innovation and entrepreneurship, especially for undergraduates who are interested in undertaking their own business. Therefore, before your innovative undertaking, youd better make good preparations to pave the way for your future career. Remember: knowing and doing both counts on the way to success.
