On August 21, 2016, the 12th Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants was held in Edinburgh, UK. Professor Chen Guangming was invited to attend the conference and gave a lecture on development of China’s refrigerants from an international perspective, which is one of the three special reports for this conference.

Currently, China is the largest producer and consumer of these refrigerants. Since the developed countries have all stopped to use these refrigerants, the process of refrigerant elimination has become one of the worldwide concerns. In view of the current situation, Professor Chen Guangming gave a brief introduction of the current situation of China’s refrigerants and air-conditioning industry. He also referred to China’s latest revision of the relevant laws, regulations and standards concerning the use of refrigerants. He added that the Chinese government had attached great importance to global environmental issues and had made great efforts to follow international conventions to fulfill their obligations.
Professor Chen Guangming currently was Chairman of the 11th Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants and Vice Chairman of the International Society of Refrigeration Thermodynamics and Transmission Process. He was also a member of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Refrigeration Air Conditioning Heat Pump Technical Options Committee.
