On the afternoon of December 30, 2016, Professor Dong Ping was appointed Sanjiang Scholar at the NC202 conference room. Professor Jin Weiliang, President of NIT, Lv Zhaohui, Director of Department of Personnel, and Professor Wang Yinhui, Deputy Dean of the School of Civil Engineering, attended the meeting.

Lu Zhaohui and professor Dong signed the appointment contract at the conference. President Jin presented Professor Dong with the appointment certificate for Sanjiang Scholar and put the NIT badge on for Professor Dong in person. Professor Dong said that he was very pleased to become on member of Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University. He will devote himself to the development of NIT and helping his colleagues and students. He also said that he was willing to build a bridge between NIT and Britain since he had lived and worked in the UK for nearly 30 years. After the ceremony, Professor Dong gave a speech entitled “Restless coast - the game of nature and human” to the staff and students.
Prof. Dong Ping is a professor of civil engineering at Dundee University. He is an internationally renowned expert in the field of coastal sediment dynamics, coastal dynamic landforms, waves and building interactions.
