On Dec. 30, 2016, New Year Charity and Yangming Institute Pipa Concert were held at NIT Concert Hall. Ying Jinyang began the concert with “Wang Yangming” with a trio of pipa, guzheng and flute. It was really a feast of ears. Then, the teachers and students from Pipa Beauty School played “Moonlight in Autumn”, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, “Happy New Year” and “Ode to Joy”, which brought back memories of childhood. The students from Jilin Animation Academy also gave a very elegant musical drama “Dunhuang Flying Apsaras” in the form of two-dimensional animation. At the ending of the concert, Ying Jinyang played “Tai Lake” with the students of Han Clothing Association of NIT and “Farewell to My Concubine” with Professor Wu Huiqin from the School of Foreign Language Studies, which showed the excellent collaboration of Pipa and Beijing Opera. The concert was concluded by a melodious “Dance of the Golden Snake”, which impressed the audience deeply. There was also Pipa Q&A at the intervals of the concert, which enriched the audience with Sinology. The performance was really a feast of ears.
