Innovation projects proposed by three NingboTech faculty members recently have been approved at the municipal level by the Ningbo Government, setting a new record for the university.

“The research team on functional biomass materials”, consisting of researchers in three areas of biomass materials, packaging engineering and food engineering, led by Professor LIU Hongzhi, is aimed at breaking the bottleneck in the high value-added utilization of cellulose nanofibers (CNF) so as to fulfill companies’ pressing demands for new materials.

The project proposed by Dr. ZHANG Zhiyuan aims to improve the performance of driverless vehicles by helping them accurately perceive surrounding areas. The project is well poised to boost the road safety, transportation efficiency and energy conservation while reduce the operational cost by strengthening cooperation with local businesses.

The project proposed by Associate Professor CAI Luyun is dedicated to realizing the sustainable development and upgrading of the fishing industry in Ningbo, and consequently improving the life health industry by resolving problems of insufficient processing, few high-end products and poor utilization of by-products.
