Five NingboTech students have won the second prize in the 9th National Innovative Mechanical Design Competition for College Students with their entry of “IoT-Based Intelligent Drug-Dispensing Machine”, which uses the cam ratchet mechanism to intelligently dispense medicine three times a day.
This year’s competition, with the theme of “Intelligent Home Appliances, Happy Family Life” and held in Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu, capital city of southwestern China’s Sichuan Province, has attracted 4,719 teams from 678 colleges and universities across China ever since it started in July, 2019. Among the four entries submitted by NingboTech, “Walking Assistant Robot for the Elderly” won the top prize in the preliminary competition at the provincial level, “Trash Can Capable of Automatic Bagging and Basic Disposal” third prize, and “IoT-Based Intelligent Drug-Dispensing Machine” entered the national final and won the second prize.
The biennial competition, having been held successfully for nine times since 2004, is the most prestigious of its kind in China. It is tasked with cultivating talents with mechanical innovation capabilities and promoting innovation-oriented educational reform of institutes of higher learning.
