The International Workshop on China's Economic and Financial Perspectives Under the New Development Paradigm was held in NingboTech on May 23rd before the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the 20th anniversary of the university. FENG Jianbo, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of NingboTech University and Chairman of NingboTech Federation of Social Sciences Circles, addressed the workshop. XIAO Wen, Dean of Business School, officiated at the event.

FENG Xiaoming, Managing Editor of China & World Economy and Professor of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, expounded on issues worth attention when submitting a paper to an international journal and briefly introduced the history of China & World Economy. Prof. Simon Appleton, Head of the School of Economics of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and Associate Professor Stuart McDonald of the same School introduced their findings in their illuminating reports on extreme poverty eradication from an international perspective and agglomeration, city scale effect and China's regional economic growth respectively. Prof. XIE Wenwu, Deputy Dean of Business School of Zhejiang University City College, shared his views on carbon emission, investment sentiment and share prices. Dr. HAN shenchao of Hangzhou Dianzi University reported on his latest findings of the impact of local government’s efficiency on industrial restructuring and spatial spillover effect. Dr. CHEN Hao of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University elaborated on innovation heterogeneity, governments' R&D support and corporate innovation performance. Dr. JIN Ying and Dr. HAO Liya of NingboTech University shared their views about the street space of gyms and evidence of the quantile regression method respectively. Experts present then had in-depth discussions.

The workshop, which focuses on frontier problems in and future trends of China's economic development under the new development paradigm from different angles, has further cemented links between NingboTech and other universities and colleges in China, and has helped start new discussions about the economic new normal in the post-pandemic era.

The workshop, co-hosted by Business School and NingboTech Federation of Social Sciences Circles, has attracted over 40 experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Party School of Zhejiang Provincial Committee of CPC, Hunan Normal University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Hangzhou Dianzi University, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Zhejiang University City College, Ningbo University of Finance and Economics, E Fund Management Co., Ltd., NingboTech University, etc.
