Forum for High School Principals 2021 was held on May 15th, attracting over 50 officials and principals from competent educational authorities and high schools in the province, including BIAN Xincan, former deputy head of Zhejiang Education Examinations Authority, and SHAO Yingchun, Principal of Ningbo High School. Presided over by LU Dongming, Vice President of NingboTech, the forum was attended by HU Zhengyu, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of NingboTech University, YANG Deren, President of NingboTech, as well as teacher and student representatives.
HU Zhengyu extended warm welcome to the high school principals present. He noted that the university is committed to cultivating students with humanistic spirit and introduced student role models like LIU Mujie, National Scholarship recipient, JIANG Yinfeng, who volunteered her services in disaster response and relief during the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake, and CHEN Jialei, who keeps forging ahead in the academic journey.
YANG Deren gave an overview of the university from fives aspects: its history, schools and disciplines, faculty and campus culture, and noted that the university would offer technical service and intellectual support following the development philosophy of "being rooted in Ningbo with a global view and growing with the support from Zhejiang University".
BIAN Xincan introduced reforms of the national college entrance examination, and pointed out that the student-centered reform aims to promote students' all-round development and diversify appraisal and selection process.
SHAO Yingchun elaborated on her educational philosophy in her enlightening report entitled "Educational Reform amid Quality Development". She believed that research-oriented high schools featuring innovative students, scholarly teachers and an academic campus atmosphere should be created.
The forum, connecting NingboTech and high schools, could help facilitate co-training of students and realize common development. The university also reached strategic cooperation with nearly 50 high schools present.
