Prof. ZHENG Shaojian was appointed Qianhu Guest Professor during the ceremony which was presided over by FANG Zhengping, Dean of the School of Biological and Chemical Engineering. LI Fengwang, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of NingboTech University, WANG Gaohe, head of Human Resources Office, as well as faculty and postgraduate representatives attended the event.
LI Fengwang extended a warm welcome to Prof. ZHENG on behalf of the university. He noted that the professorship is set up in a bid to form a faculty team of high-level professionals and that leading figures like Prof. ZHENG, recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Changjiang Scholar, are urgently needed for the university's development. He hoped that the strategic move could help take the discipline, faculty and platform development of the university up a notch, and ultimately help realize the goal of building NingboTech into a university that is among the first-class in the province and Top 100 nationwide.
Prof. ZHENG expressed sincere gratitude to the university and said that he would build on close exchange and cooperation with the scientific research teams of the School over the past several years and make further contribution to the university's development. He then shared with the attendees his experience in applying for funds granted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
Notes: Prof. ZHENG Shaojian, Changjiang Scholar and recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences, Zhejiang University, and Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry. He is engaged in researches on physiological and molecular mechanisms of plants as they response to aluminum toxicity, iron deficiency and heavy metal toxicity. He has led three key programs approved by NSFC and has published more than 100 papers in prestigious SCI-indexed journals including Nature.
