Vice President YANG Canjun, YANG Yong, chief scientist of the discipline group of Digital Design and Manufacturing, TAN Jian, chief scientist of the discipline group of Smart Port and Service, HU Changxing, head of Research Office, as well as teacher and student representatives visited the digital factory of Boway Group Co., Ltd. on December 8th.

The visitors were shown around the company's alloy sample room and the digital workshop, where they were briefed on the company's basic situation and products by WANG Yang, director of the company's Business Office, and had a better understanding of its mission and vision.

The digital factory is an integral component of Boway's digital R&D platform for the new materials of nonferrous alloy. One of the most versatile R&D systems in the field of nonferrous alloy in China, the platform, applying cutting-edge digital technologies such as big data analysis, simulation and digital twinning, has functions such as knowledge graph, data middle platform and materials genome engineering. With digital R&D assets of 800,000 pieces of data already accumulated, the platform has enabled a whole digitized R&D process for some products, and ultimately realized the R&D-production integration by breaking the biggest bottleneck hindering the R&D of metal materials with technologies of data middle platform and cloud computing. In addition, a sharing platform for digital simulation and big data analysis dedicated to the development and application of new materials has been set up, by which scientific research institutions, clients and society as a whole can develop products and conduct application innovation in a collaborative manner.

Since NingboTech is currently working on the top-level design for the discipline group of Digital Design and Manufacturing, this visit will surely facilitate this interdisciplinary group and push the university further towards the goal of being "first-class in the province and top 100 in China".
