NingboTech and the People's Government of Xiangshan County agreed to, in the principles of complementarity and mutual benefit, cooperate in establishing a marine experimental base, sharing resources for marine innovation and entrepreneurship, promoting marine scientific and technological research, and training professionals in this field in a bid to realize the strategic goal of revitalizing China through marine industry, accelerate the process of turning Ningbo into a marine hub and complete priority tasks stipulated in the county's 14th Five-Year Plan.
Vice President YANG Canjun noted during the signing ceremony that as effforts are being made for Ningbo to become a global marine hub and for Zhejiang to be reinvigorated through marine industry, NingboTech University would surely play an important role given its abundant research on marine technology, multiple relevant platforms, as well as its ongoing efforts to facilitate two discipline groups: Digital Design and Manufacturing and Smart Port and Service. The cooperation is clearly the best choice at the critical moment when the two sides are seeking common development and pressing ahead with marine research.
WU Zhihui, deputy head of Xiangshan, mentioned the county has recently encountered a lot of bottlenecks in developing marine science and technology, and that the two sides share a sound cooperation basis for research on and application of equipment and technology of marine aquaculture, a pillar industry for Xiangshan. He then stressed that the strategic cooperation would facilitate the industry-education integration and usher in common development and win-win results.
