President YANG Deren, Vice Presidents LU Dongming and YANG Canjun, and Chief Scientists TAN Jian and YANG Yong visited Yongjiang Lab on March 9, where they were accorded a cordial reception by Director CUI Ping and Deputy Director WU Xuedong.

CUI Ping extended a warm welcome to the visitors on behalf of the lab. Looking back on China's endeavors in the past few years to promote scientific and technological innovation, she pointed out that the lab is a strategic move of the provincial government to facilitate sectors of "Internet+", life sciences and new materials. She then elaborated on the lab's unique roles in the future, goals at different stages, development modes and missions. She noted that the institution would, upholding the principles of being forward-looking and innovative for the betterment of society, do the right thing and do it right, and never be obsessed with worldly success. It's hoped that the lab, universities and enterprises can perform their respective duties, achieve complementary development, uphold openness and cooperation, and innovate in a coordinated manner.

President YANG, after giving a brief introduction to the university and the research focuses of the two discipline groups, hoped that NingboTech could contribute its share to the development of the lab by leveraging its advantages and discipline characteristics. Prof. FANG Zhengping, dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, briefed the attendees on the School. The two sides then had an in-depth discussion about issues like how to bring in talented people, platform construction and resource sharing. Heads of the lab's Integrated Management Department, Strategic Planning Department and Scientific Development Department and the university's Office of the Presidents, Research Office and Regional Cooperation Office also attended the meeting.
