Prof. ZHANG Lizhao joined NingboTech University on January 4 and is tasked with the teaching of courses related to criminal law. His arrival will greatly facilitate the discipline development and cooperation between the university and local departments of legal services.

Prof. ZHANG graduated from Renmin University of China and East China University of Political Science and Law, and received a doctorate of laws at the latter. He once served as deputy secretary general (and chief legal advisor) of the People's Government of Ningbo Municipality, director of the Laws and Regulations Office of the municipal government, deputy chief procurator of Ningbo People's Procuratorate and chief procurator of the People's Procuratorate of Yuyao. With rich experience in judicial practice, Prof. ZHANG was once honored with a second-grade merit citation and was rated as a national procuratorial expert as well as a public prosecution expert in Zhejiang Province.

Prof. ZHANG specializes in legal theory as well. He has long been engaged in the theoretical research of criminal law, procuratorial system and government rule of law. For his profound knowledge of jurisprudence, Prof. ZHANG was once granted the titles of national talent for procuratorial theory research and national procuratorial expert. Moreover, he was also listed as an outstanding middle-aged legal expert in Zhejiang Province and in Ningbo. Up to now, Prof. ZHANG has published more than 130 papers in journals like Law Science, Research on Rule of Law and Law Science Magazine. Besides, he has published a monograph entitled On Crimes of Insurance Fraud, and edited more than 10 works including On Criminal Policy of Juvenile Delinquency and Allocation and Operation of Legal Supervision Power. Prof. ZHANG has also led many research projects, including those funded by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and his findings once won the first prize of the provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award. What's more, he is one of the council members of the Administrative Law Studies Institute of China Law Society (CALS).

Prof. ZHANG was appointed honorary director of Capital Equity Legal Group(CELG) Ningbo branch on January 14. In the future, he will participate in the discussion and handling of major criminal cases, administrative litigation and other legal cases in the law firm. His appointment is expect to facilitate complementary and win-win development and inject new momentum into the discipline construction in NingboTech.
