Students were mobilized to beautify manhole covers on campus by using their expertise from April 24 to 26 in a show of youth's contribution to the university development ahead of China's Youth Day, which falls on May 4. The activity was co-organized by the university's Youth League Committee and the School of Design.

25 final designs, selected out of a large number of drafts, cover a wide range of topics such as the pandemic prevention and control, the centenary of the Communist Youth League, the mascot of NingboTech and cartoon characters. Students turned dull, dark manhole covers into brightly colored artistic works by using brushes and paints as well as their ingenuity. During the creation, the young artists perfected the design by trying the best color combinations and taking into consideration the uneven surface of the covers so as to decorate them with the most exquisite art pieces.

The participants felt like their creativity has been released and skills been honed through this meaningful activity. Passers-by, fascinated by the paintings on the cover, spontaneously stopped to feast their eyes on the view and took photos of those beautiful artistic works, which was a recognition of the ingenuity of the young NingboTech artists.

It's long been the mission and goal of the School of Design to turn itself into an influential institution by giving full play to its advantages. To this end, the School is to carry out graffiti activities on campus, which are aimed at honing students' practical skills and helping create a culturally advanced and beautiful campus.
