NingboTech officials including HU Zhengyu, secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the university, President YANG Deren, and YANG Yong, chief scientist of the discipline group "Digital design and manufacturing", visited Kangqiang Electronics on May 12, where they were accorded a cordial reception by Chairman YE Ji, General Manager ZHENG Fang and Deputy General Manager FENG Xiaolong.
The visitors were shown around the company's workshops, where they saw several production lines such as those for stamping lead frame and etching lead frame, and got a general idea of the company's technological R&D and production techniques in semiconductor packaging materials.
During the subsequent meeting, HU gave a brief introduction to NingboTech and pointed out that the university, with support from Ningbo and Zhejiang University, is aligning its own development with that of local businesses and striving to facilitate the city's economic growth. As a listed company and a front-runner in the field of semiconductor packaging materials in China, Kangqiang Electronics is in desperate need of technology and qualified personnel for its own development, and the university could help with its upgrading and transformation by getting involved in every stage of the industrial chain, such as scientific research, student training, team building, and talent attraction, among others.
YANG Deren, briefing the host on the university's two discipline groups, namely, "Digital design and manufacturing" and "Smart port and service", suggested that the two sides carry out in-depth cooperation given the fact that the discipline group "Digital design and manufacturing" and the newly established School of Materials Science and Engineering dovetail nicely with the company's development direction. He hoped that NingboTech could form a long-term cooperation mechanism with leading enterprises in Ningbo, which would surely facilitate not only mutual growth and win-win results, but also local and national development.
Chairman YE Ji extended a warm welcome to the visitors and thought highly of the university's remarkable achievements in scientific research and talent training, which, according to him, could help make up the company's deficiencies and fix weak links. He noted that the two sides enjoy excellent cooperation potential for platform construction, scientific research, and talent training.
Several other experts and staff of the Research Office, Regional Cooperation Office, School of Information Science and Engineering, and the School of Materials Science and Engineering also attended the meeting.
