President YANG Deren inspected the Polish Studies Center, an MOE-ratified international and regional research base administered by the School of International Studies, on December 30. Presided over by Dean HU Jie, the meeting was attended by officials of the Human Resources Office, Academic Affairs Office, Research Office, Finance Office, International Affairs Office, as well as staff of the Center.

HU Jie reported on the development of the Center, difficulties encountered and coping measures, long-term plans, etc., with a focus on the problems existing in the development orientation, operating mechanism, talent attraction, its image and external supporting channels, among others. She elaborated on the idea of setting up the micro major of Polish language, as well as interdisciplinary research. 

President YANG stressed that the Center, as an important scientific research platform of the university, should pay attention to the following aspects: First, to find the most suitable path for the future development by comparing with other domestic bases of the same kind and inviting experts for review; second, to take the initiative to synergize the Center's development with major national needs and inject vitality by integrating resources of the university and through close collaboration with relevant government departments; third, to fully leverage the advantages and resources of other bases and groups, such as cooperation with the university's two discipline groups and companies of Central and Eastern European countries.
